Is Luka Doncic Already a Top 10 Player in the NBA?

For all the superstar talent that is currently in the NBA landscape today, what I am about to say isn’t a stretch, reach or overstatement: Maverick guard Luka Doncic is already a top 10 player in the NBA.

Yes, Doncic is only 20 years old and still doesn’t play a hair of defense, however, his offensive wizardry is remarkable and has put the Slovenia native in conversations alongside LeBron James himself.

Doncic is averaging an astonishing 30.1 points, 9.5 assists, and 10 rebounds while leading the Dallas Mavericks to an 11-6 record. If there were any doubters or media pundits waiting for a Sophomore slump, those wishes have evaporated immediately. Last Sunday, Doncic went toe to toe with the dynamic duo of Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

And he won.

In one of his most impressive games yet, Doncic showed off his full repertoire while defeating the Rockets in a 137-123 showdown that has everyone around the NBA talk. While the Mavericks, who traded Dennis Smith Jr. for Kristaps Porzingis in a larger deal last season, were still expecting to be another year or two away from playoff contention, the unbelievable play of Doncic has changed everything.

“This brother spectacular and what he did to James Harden in Houston the other day, a 35 point triple-double in 25 minutes,” Stephen A Smith said. “This dude got the game and he’s got the swag”

Doncic is a generational talent and is already one of the 10 best players in basketball.
