Events to Look Forward to in the 2020 Olympics
The 2020 Olympics are fast approaching, and that means exciting sports for all the world to see. Of course, you will be able to watch old favorites like track and field, swimming, basketball, and gymnastics. But, there are some new sports entering the Summer Olympics this year.
Skateboarding is not just a niche competition anymore. There will be a street and park competitions for people to enjoy. The street course will have rails, ramps, and stairs to get tricky with. On the other hand, the park competition will consist of a bowl-shaped course that will have some tricky inclines.
Men and women will be able to compete in karate for the first time at the 2020 Olympics. There will be two disciplines this year: sparring and forms. Forms will include a variety of movements from balance, power, and speed to name a few. On the other hand, the spacing will be a weight-matched event that will last for 3 minutes in an 8 by 8-meter arena.
#3 – Surfing
With the 2020 Olympics snuggling up next to Japan, there will be some serious waves and crazy wipeouts. The competitors will not be judged on the number of waves they hit in a 20-25 minute period, but rather the difficulty of maneuvering on the best wave. All eyes will be on Shidashita Beach this summer.
#4 – Sport Climbing
Athletes will have 4 minutes to maneuver a 4-meter high wall with a variety of routes possible. As athletes get farther along, they will have to get over the top of a 15-meter high wall. There will not be any safety ropes for the athletes either.
