Reworking The 2019-2020 Atlanta Hawks

By Shane R February 20, 2020

One question that a lot of NBA fans are asking this season is how to fix the Atlanta Hawks. With promising young pieces like Trae Young, John Collins, Cam Reddish, and more, NBA experts felt like the team would take a jump to the playoffs this season. To this point, this has not been the case. So, how can the Hawks be fixed?

One name that has been thrown around over the last few weeks is guard Jrue Holiday from the New Orleans Pelicans. Currently, the Pelicans are on the outside looking in for the playoffs similar to the Hawks. With Zion Williamson being sidelined most of the year, and young pieces that the team will have to pay in the off-season, moving Holiday this season may be a smart idea for both clubs. This way, the Hawks can pair phenomenon Trae Young with a solid backcourt mate who could get 20 a night or run the offense with effectiveness.

By giving up a 1st round pick, the expiring contract of Chandler Parsons and the smaller salary of Jabari Parker, the Hawks could get this done. They ultimately would be better for it in the long run. Parker has been more of a stop gap this season, and the first round pick will not hurt so bad if the team lives up to expectations the new few years. In turn, the Hawks would get one of the best two-way players in the Association. If the Hawks want to turn their season around, they should jump all over this trade.
